From easy one-hour rides through open grassland to full-day adventures into the Coronado National Forest, Double R Guest Ranch offers Arizona trail rides for every skill level. After a brief orientation to your horse, you’ll be saddled up and on your way. Our wranglers match every rider to the right horse and pace. We also coordinate adaptive and therapeutic rides for guests with special needs.

Meadows Ride
This one-hour ride is perfect for those short on time or the beginner rider. A relaxed, entry-level ride designed to get you comfortable in the saddle while meandering through open, sun-bleached valley grasslands. This ride gives our guests a chance to explore Hay Canyon’s beautiful scenery on horseback. This beautiful ride will leave you hankering for more time in the saddle.

Outlook Ranch Ride
This 90-minute guided ride promises to linger in your memory long after you depart from the Ranch. This ride needs no experience, however, even the most advanced rider will be challenged. This ride introduces a mild elevation gain. It winds up localized ridges to yield panoramic, miles-wide vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges. Stunning mountain vistas with miles of views in almost every direction await you.

Woodland Ride
This superb woodland ride is the most picturesque ride of its type in southern Arizona. This ride traverses through wooded forests with hills, lush rolling grassy meadows, spectacular mountain vistas, and wildlife to include deer, a wide variety of birds, coyote, and many other animals and reptiles native to this area, are often spotted on our trails. This ride is suitable for beginners but challenging enough to be interesting for more experienced riders. Approximately 1 hour.

Wild Horse Pass Ride
For those who feel that the one-hour ride is just not enough…. this is sure to please. Spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, beautiful sights, and gradual climb up a mountainside to spot some horses grazing in the distance. This ride is great for riders of all levels. Approximately 2 hours.

Red Rock Mountain Ride
This ride offers stunning red rock mountain views where towering formations of red sandstone will surround you. Feel a true sense of accomplishment as you ride among spectacular red mountain terrain and pass by a natural spring fed water trough. You will feel the power and athleticism as your horse carefully navigates through the red rocks along the trail. Be sure to bring your camera to capture a panoramic view of the breathtaking landscape. Approximately 3 hours.

Patagonia Lookout Ride
Enjoy breath-taking scenery as you traverse through pristine mountain terrain. This ride is the perfect way to explore the stunning landscape surrounding Double R Ranch. Midway through the ride you will be treated to a spectacular mountain top view of the Patagonia Valley. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the untouched, wild nature of the wilderness, and the sense of remoteness and tranquility far away from civilization. As you ride through the open meadows and journey through the forest, keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of mule or whitetail deer on your way back to the barn. Approximately 3 hours.

Full Day Ride
Ride departs 9 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. daily and includes a sack lunch. Spectacular views, a few breathtaking climbs and great horses take you back in time as you experience the Wild West just as it was when pioneers, miners and Indians roamed these parts all on horseback. Includes a bag lunch.

Sunset Ride
Enjoy Arizona’s spectacular sunsets. Our most popular ride by far! On this ride, there is a great chance to see some native Arizona wildlife from Mule deer, Whitetail deer, Javelina, and more bird species than almost anywhere else in the world. Be prepared for an incredible experience. Departure times vary according to the time of year. Approximately 60-minute ride.

Sunset Dinner Ride
Enjoy Arizona’s spectacular sunsets and then return to the Ranch for a delicious meal in the lodge. This ride is suitable for any level of rider and sure to embrace the beauty of the setting sun. Be sure to bring your camera. Please call for departure times as it varies depending on the time of year. Approximately 60-minute ride.

Ride and Wine Package
Enjoy the spectacular views of Sonoita Valley via horseback. Times are 10:00am or 12:00pm Thursday thru Sunday. This ride is suitable for any level of rider. After you have completed the horse trail ride, you will receive a delicious plate of meat and cheese to help get you in the spirit for some wine tasting. You will also get a Double R Guest Ranch wine glass that you can take to the many vineyards for wine tasting and a variety of discounts. Arizona boasts thriving wine regions, particularly in the high-elevation areas of Sonoita/Elgin which is known for cooler climates and award-winning wines. The ranch is located near many award-winning wineries, and you will not be disappointed with the variety of wine that awaits your pallet. Approximately 60-minute ride.

General Information
Cancellation Policy & Terms
- No refunds for cancellations less than 72 hours prior to your scheduled ride.
- If you need to postpone your ride we reserve the right to impose a $25 per person rescheduling fee.
- Weight limitation is generally 220 pounds, however, we have larger draft breed horses for those weighing more than 220. For those guests there is an extra fee of $20 per person.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure of your ride.
- There will be no refunds for any rider arriving 15 minutes after their scheduled departure time.
